Client Goals & Ambitions
The brief was clear: prove that luxury living doesn't depend on square metres. The goal was a modern 60m² home that felt genuinely spacious, achieved through 2.7m stud heights and large skylights that flood the living areas with natural light. Inside, a full-sized, high-spec kitchen anchored the design, complete with premium stone benchtops and Smeg appliances. High-end finishes ran throughout, from a fully tiled custom shower to quality fixtures and premium materials. Comfort and privacy mattered too, so insulation and acoustic soundproofing were built into every internal wall. Outside, the ambition was functional outdoor living that held its privacy from neighbouring properties.
Challenges
A compact 60m² footprint sets its own terms. The central challenge was making the home feel open and spacious within that space, while carving out usable outdoor living areas on a tight site. Privacy was the constant tension. With neighbouring homes close by, every window had to balance natural light against direct views, and the outdoor areas needed to feel private without closing in.
How We Overcame These Challenges
Raising the ceiling height to 2.7 metres created a greater sense of space throughout the home, and two large skylights captured natural light across the day, making the living areas feel bright, warm and welcoming. Windows were carefully positioned to draw in daylight while avoiding direct sightlines into neighbouring living spaces. Outside, privacy screens around the entertaining areas let the occupants enjoy outdoor living without compromise. Premium finishes and considered design features throughout make the home feel significantly larger than its physical footprint.

The result is a beautifully finished 60m² home that exceeds expectations for compact living. The interior is spacious and light-filled, comfortably suited to two people or a young family, and the full-sized designer kitchen delivers on every detail, from premium stone benchtops and Smeg appliances to high-quality finishes throughout. High ceilings, skylights and carefully planned spaces combine to give the home a feeling of openness that is rarely achieved at this size. More than anything, it demonstrates that exceptional design, thoughtful planning and quality workmanship can create a luxury home without a large footprint.
