Client Goals & Ambitions
The brief was to transform an existing home into a modern, functional family home. That meant reconfiguring the internal layout to make better use of the available space, creating a larger kitchen and open living areas suited to family life, and building in generous storage throughout for a growing young family. To make the most of the site's potential, the plan also called for relocating the existing house from the centre of the section to the front of the property.
Challenges
Relocating the existing house while maintaining the structural integrity of the building was the central challenge. It also involved demolishing and removing the original garage located beneath the house. Working through winter added another layer of difficulty, with frequent rain creating muddy site conditions during the relocation, all while maintaining a safe work environment throughout.
How We Overcame These Challenges
We managed the entire house relocation in-house, which let us keep control over quality, programme and coordination. The demolition and relocation works were carefully planned to minimise disruption and keep the project moving efficiently. Robust health and safety controls managed the muddy site conditions and protected our team and subcontractors, and each stage of the renovation was coordinated to achieve a seamless transformation from an older home to a modern, high-quality residence.
Why This Project Was a Success
The existing home was successfully relocated and completely transformed into a modern family residence. The result is a thoughtfully designed layout with larger living spaces, a spacious kitchen and significantly improved storage throughout. The home was upgraded with new aluminium joinery, exterior cladding, premium bathrooms, a new ensuite and an inviting front porch. Completed to a high standard of workmanship, it gives the clients what feels like a brand-new home while making the most of the existing structure. The outcome is a warm, functional and low-maintenance home, perfectly suited to the family's lifestyle for many years to come.
