Client Goals & Ambitions
The brief was to upgrade an existing home so it could better suit the needs of a growing family. That meant modernising key areas while improving how the home worked and how it looked. Three bathrooms were to be renovated, including a luxurious ensuite, all with fully tiled finishes, alongside custom wardrobe fit-outs, new carpet and premium interior finishes throughout. A striking new staircase sat at the heart of the plan, built from native timber with grooved timber wall panelling and a skylight to flood the entrance with natural light. The entry itself was to be transformed with extensive glazing and joinery, creating a bright, welcoming first impression.
Challenges
The most significant challenge was designing and constructing a new staircase within the existing footprint of the home. This required cutting into the existing concrete foundations to create space for an additional flight of stairs, then integrating the new staircase seamlessly with the original structure. Beyond that, the older walls needed restoring and straightening so they blended with the new renovation work, creating a consistent, high-quality finish throughout.
How We Overcame These Challenges
We began by carefully planning the structural alterations needed to accommodate the new staircase while maintaining the integrity of the existing home. The existing foundations were modified to create the additional space required, with all structural work completed safely and accurately. The existing walls were refurbished and prepared to achieve a seamless finish between the original home and the new construction. From there, we coordinated the installation of premium finishes, including native timber, grooved timber panelling, tiled bathrooms, custom joinery and skylights, bringing everything together into a cohesive and modern design.
Why This Project Was a Success
The result is an older home successfully transformed into a modern, functional family residence. We delivered three beautifully tiled bathrooms, including a premium ensuite, along with custom wardrobe fit-outs and high-quality interior finishes. The stunning, light-filled entrance, anchored by a custom native timber staircase, gives the home a welcoming and contemporary feel. Opening up the internal layout made the home brighter, more inviting and better suited to everyday family living. Altogether, the renovation significantly modernised the property while adding long-term value, creating a home the family can enjoy for many years to come.
